    Mind-Body-Spirit-Connection

Kristen Boyesen's childhood interest in making art led to her being enrolled in an adult summer plein air art class at the age of thirteen, taught by Purdue University's Professor Curtis Stocking. This early exposure to constructive criticism led the way for her to find her most expressive artistic voice. For many years that took form as a "Wilderness Artist", though other topics of interest were not ignored. The world around her offered many things to appreciate, and this joy of appreciation was naturally transfered to paper or canvas. Sunlight and shadows are a recurring theme, as are an interest in shapes and patterns in nature. Her mediums are many: pastel, acrylic, oil, charcoal, pencil, pen, and colored pencil, though her favorite is pastel because of the immediacy of transferring the vision to the paper, and the joy of creating the marks. The pleasure of the artist experience and its ability for healing body and spirit led her to create a workshop in 2005 called Imagination Arts. The observational-meditative exercises in this workshop are created for the non-artist to access their right-brain global thinking without having to make art. All exercises are done without looking at the paper, so there is a release of fear of the outcome. Imagination Arts workshops are now given monthly at the Veterans Administration Medical Center to help veterans deal with a variety of serious mental and physical conditions, at several assisted living facilities, and is available to the corporate world for stress relief and creativity training. Kristen is Life Learning and Creativity Coach and Director of Out-of-the-Box Thinking for Imagination Arts. Ms. Boyesen grew up in Northern New York, attended college at the State University of New York at Potsdam and taught there for two semesters as an adjunct instructor. She currently resides in the Greater Cleveland Area and is a member of the Cleveland Coach Federation, Mind-Body-Spirit-Connection, and the American Holistic Medical Association. Her art is on exhibit at The Gallery, Willoughby OH; Creative Spirit, Potsdam, NY; and The Gallery, Canton NY.
