Holy Hormones

Leslie Botha, author, women's health educator, radio and television talk show host and nationally recognized expert on women's hormone cycles has been teaching women about the relevance the hormone cycle has on their lives for over 20 years. Botha is a member of the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research and the International Association of Human Caring. She is currently a student studying Whole Health Education®, nominated for the Fetzer Institutes Norman Cousins Award for “Best Practice in Relationship-Centered Care”, through The New England School of Whole Health Education. Botha will receive her certification as a Whole Health Educator in the spring of 2005.

The Greatest Story Never Told

Informative and relevant health care education is a fundamental right for women of all ages. Until now, women have been taught that our hormone cycle — the actual foundation of our being; the source of womankind, — is an idiosyncrasy that should be dismissed, ignored and denied. Believing in this damaging cultural myth has caused women, their children and partners great harm mentally, emotionally and physically. It is my hope that this web site and the information and the research gathered herein will provide you insight into the greatest story never told so that you will be able to claim your power as women of wisdom.

My journey has been inspiring, faced with challenges and obstacles —not unlike your own. Perhaps the difference is that I perceive life as a journey of becoming —and the only way to do that is to understand the cyclical order of the nature of life. When life is not viewed as cyclical, the same positive and negative learned behaviors are repeated over and over again —so that instead of a progression/cycle — always moving forward — life becomes repetitive, an enclosed circle —with a false perception of no way out.

Leslie Botha's Work Recognized

from the Institute for Cycle Research:
"Our third goal was to revive the Edward R Dewey Institute for Cycle Research (ERDI). ERDI’s main function is to award grants and prizes to stimulate work in cycles research and to encourage new research as well as to recognize research already accomplished. The primary purpose is to close the gap between “cycles” and “science”. The first recipient of the Edward R. Dewey award for this year is Leslie Botha, who has dedicatedly worked on and independently researched the effects of the menstrual cycle, and its suppression, in women’s lives. She has written an article for us, published in this new issue of Cycles Magazine. You may visit her website. Congratulations, Leslie!"

*A NOTE:
If you have a slow connection there are some things we can suggest to make listening easier:

  • Your computer may require long periods while the file downloads but you can go to other pages or sites while the download is processing. (Sites with very large files will slow the download.) If you choose this approach, be sure to plan your listening ahead so you can allow for a longer wait while the file downloads. It may appear that nothing is happening during this time so be patient.
